I hate Windows XP.
I've always had issues with it, and particularly now.
I'm trying to get my main computer to share on the local network. I'm behind a linux firewall right now, so security is a non-issue. I just want to share a folder.
The system is running Windows XP Home. Whenever I try to access it (via Run "\\davidmoore") I get the error message:
\\davidmoore is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator to find out if you have permissions.
Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.
My new laptop shares, without any setup, its own Shared Doc's folder. Yet my other Windows XP Home cannot be beaten into doing so.
I have done much Googling without results. Most sites tell me to create identical users with the same pw. This does not work. Others tell me to adjust settings in my Local Security Policy. Windows XP Home does not have a Local Security Policy (as far as I can know).
Does anyone have any ideas, this is driving me batty!
