Here I sit, at my little laptoppy. It is not wirelessly connected to the internet through my main system here at LetU.
The main system is, after much craziness, running Windows XP Pro. I upgraded from Home this afternoon, but it was a hellish process. Multiple BSOD's, several recovery console sessions, much frantic google-ing, and repeated munching of chocolates all combined in a nasty mix. The computer was finally allowing me to log in by 7 or so. However various programs crashed and gave strange errors. Moreover, I was unable to update windows and was repeatedly Klez'ed. Virus programs refused to install, and updates wouldn't download. In a fit of final frustration I installed the redistributable Service Pack 2. The computer booted without incident and proceeded to operate without error messages. It did, however, firewall itself into a small corner. After clearing said firewalls, I discovered that although I could log on to AIM and browse RESNET, I couldn't get online with any browser.
I proceeded to pass my 'net connection on to the laptop via a second NIC. Strangely, the laptop has full and unfettered 'net access, while its gateway cannot reach anything. Go Microsoft. Now I can try to get some homework done from my not wirelessly connected laptop.
