Quality time
A question occurred to me as I ate my lunch in the university's student center this afternoon. It might be a rhetorical question, I suppose. It presented itself to my mind as I observed the people who were gathered around a big-screen television in the corner of the room.
Is it a bad indication for the nature of one's romantic relationship to sit with a sweetheart in the university commons, quietly watching a string of reality dating shows on television?

Perhaps they do this so they can say that they are so much better than that and they could never end up like that, even though the communication lost by watching the show instead of talking over lunch may end up being the very thing that makes them into what they see on the show.
But then, I'm no expert.

But you could use that same analogy for under exercised people sitting watching the sports channel. Everyone likes to be an armchair quarterback.

I think it's a desperate cry for help, a plea for release from the bondage of post-teenage "romance." Or maybe I'm just being cynical.
