A couple of pictures from home
I have been planning to take a few photographs around town to post here. I think my friends might be amused by my surroundings. I haven't had a good chance to go into town with the camera lately, though. This teaser from the family property will have to suffice for now.
Both pictures were taken from the approximate perspective of my house, one toward the north and the other toward the south. When my family first moved onto our property, that neighboring field (a few dozen yards from the house) was home to a herd of cattle.

I thought it might. You're a bit more remote than we are, though; that field is becoming a housing development, and a busy highway is only about a mile away.

I didn't know you were . . . out in the middle of the emptiness, I suppose. I was just thinking about it, and . . . Yeah. My house and both grandparents' houses are pretty much out like that (large city on one side of my house, untouched countryside on the other) . . . but without the trees. Ick.

You know... the funny thing is just how far I have to drive to get someplace like that. A good 4-6 hours, probably. Maybe 2, if you went just the right direction. I tend to think that my house is in the sparser areas of town... which it is, but still. Go 1000 feet above my house and turn a circle... 60% of what you see, about, will be developed city. Move to my office and that's probably more like 80%. Move to my dad's office and it's 100%, complete with a high skyscraper content.
Lucky for me, I've avoided driving to LA thus far this break. Here's hoping Scholl, Stu, and Jeff fly in to LAX outside of rush hour. ;)

It looks like the the land around my house. Except we have fewer trees.
