Favorite kind of weather

It's been raining all day today, and I see no sign that it will stop. There is very little lightning to worry about, but lots and lots of sweet water from heaven. There are flash flood watches all around, and a flash flood warning just one county over. I'm safe at the top of my little hill.

My only concern is the dreaded Central Texas wet-weather driver; these people do not know how to behave in the rain. This afternoon, a car in Austin sped past me on the shoulder and cut across two lanes, right between my van and a utility truck, as we drove through an intersection on slick asphalt.

Jonathan, it doesn't matter where drivers are from, they never know how to drive in rain. It rains all the time here in Seattle and people STILL freak out...

If we actually had rain in So-Cal, I think 90% of the drivers would die. They're crazy, reckless, and irresponsible enough in dry weather...

Texans are even worse on ice. I was driving to the airport for Christmas Break one year after a storm. Drivers hit black ice, panicked, and slammed on their brakes.

It rained the other day in Ventura County, Martinez... provided by "rain" you mean "the fog was heavy enough that it was actually falling and making the ground wet"...

Okay, so yeah. It doesn't rain here. Except for El Nino years, and even that is less than your average week in Texas.

All I have to say about drivers here is that at least they usually pay a little bit of attention. Even if that attention is just to see who they can cut off next, at least we usually know that we're cutting someone off when we do it.

Well put. It does not rain here (just 2 hours south of SF), but it is insane enough on CA roads that you don't need to add water to risk your life. And it would not be CA without drivers that cut you off.
