Apocalypse Wow
I watched Apocalypse Now Redux (an extended version of the film) last night. This was a fantastic experience. There is very little for me to say. The film immerses the audience in madness; I feel no need to criticize small flaws, since very little is supposed to make sense anyway.
Some fans criticize the extended version for meddling with the flow of the original, but I found the additional material helpful. In any form, the movie is spectacular. It won the Palme d'Or while still only a rough cut.
The fact that this film could include the coolest battle scene ever (Wagner?! Surfing?!), without losing any of the power of its anti-war message, is impressive enough. The free adaptation of Konrad's novel is also spot-on.
It put me into a very good mood last night.

I've probably seen AN four or five times (never seen the Redux, though I want to), but I can't say it's ever put me in a good mood.
You're a strange bird, cuz.
You're right, though -- great film.

I love the smell of a good movie in the evening. Smells like...good times.
We get to watch this movie in World Lit Through Film next semester, ya know. *evil grin*
