Could do worse
Fall Convocation today was much better than last year's. (Let's face it: they thoroughly muffed it last year.) This time, the people in charge managed to clear the students out of the auditorium aisles before sending in the procession of the faculty. They also remembered to tell the students to rise as the faculty entered the room, and afterwards to stay at their seats until the faculty had departed. These matters of protocol should be insultingly obvious, but last year our students made clear that they need direction in such affairs. Moreover, the music was better this year, and the president's address more palatable. I was pleased. I harbor a love of ceremony, but badly arranged ceremony is a hideous thing indeed.
More classes:
Concepts of Lifetime Fitness: Yes, my first kinesiology course. Should be entertaining. For other people.
Organizational Behavior: The instructor seems to think that all those models we learned in Principles of Management will come in handy now. Maybe I can find some use for the "cultural onion."
Introduction to Philosophy: My first Batts course. Not particularly painful yet, but at times a little insulting. Did you know that the meaning of the term "fundamentalist" is best discovered by identifying the root word "fundamental"? A fundamentalist is just someone who believes in the fundamentals. Gee. At least I know I'm not wasting my time in this course, right?

Just keep telling yourself that, and you'll be fine.
