Course selection
I made a discovery this morning when I combed through my degree audits. It appears that I should be able to polish off my honors degree in business administration and history/political science, with a minor in English, by taking as few as 27 more hours of courses during the regular academic year. This is significant because I have three semesters left to fill. (That figure does not include the two French courses that I need to take during the summer, though.) I plan to speak with faculty from all three departments to confirm this before I finalize my spring course schedule, but right now I cannot see any interpretation of my degree requirements that would necessitate more than 35 hours of courses at LeTourneau.
This is, obviously, a relief -- it should be easy to earn the degree I want. On the other hand, it presents a strange challenge. Because so many of my remaining business courses will not be offered until next year, I may have a difficult time scheduling more than 14 hours of classes this spring. I could add another three-hour history class, but that would leave me needing only three hours of history next year (both semesters). Any history classes above this would be extra, according to the degree plan -- but I am prepared to insist upon them in order to avoid a semester of nothing but business classes. In any case, I refuse to consider taking fewer than 15 hours in any semester, and I am in no mood to graduate early.
