Tire repair

At Cliopatria, Jonathan Reynolds has a fascinating post describing automobile tire repair stations ("Vulcanizers") in Nigeria. (He's followed it up with a photograph.) This reminded his colleague, Manan Ahmed, of Uncle Billa the tire walla, who had a thriving business mending bicycle tires in Pakistan. Both accounts are beautiful.
